Set Up Atlas Connectivity

    This guide will show you how to set up your Atlas cluster for connections from a client. You will:

    • whitelist your IP address in order to allow access to your Atlas cluster
    • locate your connection string and copy it

    Time required: 15 minutes

    What You’ll Need

    Login to Atlas

    Login to Atlas.

    Click the Connect button

    Click the connect button in the middle of the cluster management panel.

    Whitelist your IP address and select your connection method

    In step 1 in the modal window, check to make sure your IP address is in the whitelist for Atlas connections. If it is not, add it.

    Next, see step 2 in the modal window. Select which client you wish to use to connect to MongoDB.

    Copy the connection string

    In step 2 in the modal, select the version of the shell you are using. You will see a connection string appear in the gray block. Click the copy button to the right of the string. The connection string is now in your copy buffer.

    In step 2 in the window, select the version of compass you are using. You will see a connection string appear in the gray block. Click the copy button to the right of the string. The connection string is now in your copy buffer.

    In step 1 in the window, select the version of the driver you are using. You will see a connection string appear in the gray block. Click the copy button to the right of the string. The connection string is now in your copy buffer.

    Summary

    If you have successfully completed this guide, you will now have your IP address in the Atlas whitelist, and an Atlas connection string in your copy buffer.
